Performance by Design

At Streamlyte our paddle designs are driven by a simple aim to produce the very best in performance paddles using modern materials and production techniques. We follow a simple philosphy that each design must be as true to it's core concept as possible to deliver the performance that we expect. Other manufactureres may produce or modify a design to suit their production process but we will not compromise in this way. We produce a design exactly as we wish it to be and then we will determine how to make the product.

Most of our designs start as a concept which is turned in to working prototype models which can be physically tested in their 'raw' state on the water. We take input and suggestions from top paddlers in different disciplines to engineer shapes that work. When we are happy that the performance is right we will either produce master moulds directly from the blade shapes or the blade will be CAD modelled. Metal production moulds are then produced from the master moulds or are precisely machine milled from the CAD models.

Each paddle is matched to a quality prepreg shaft constructed to complement the blade style and produce a well balanced paddle. We do not concentrate solely on producing a paddle that is ultra light as this is not always to the paddlers benefit. The idea that the lighter the paddle, the easier the paddling, is not a view that we entirely support. In anything but a light breeze, a paddle that is too light will be blown around forcing the paddler to fight against it thereby reducing performance and increasing fatigue. Our paddles are engineered to give the right balance so they feel great to paddle with.

Paddles are hand assembled from separate components,rather than built as a one piece 'throw away' unit. All of our blades and shafts components can be replaced in the event of damage, either by our dealers in most cases or through return to the factory.
