Shaft Styles

We use a number of different shafts on our paddles, each one being engineered for optimum feel and performance in conjunction with specific blade designs. All shafts are made with high grade sport/aerospace specification epoxy prepreg materials.

STG - Standard Glass. 100% glass construction. This shaft combines light weight with a light flexibilty pefectly suited to touring paddles. Is is also used on our KidzStix model having sufficient strength for relatively light use in young hands with low weight.

HDG - Heavy Duty Glass. 100% glass construction. A high strength shaft with good flexibilty which will withstand extreme whitewater use and the exceptionally high stresses suffered in canoe polo.

SC - Semi Carbon. 80% glass, 20% carbon construction offering a good blend of strength and low weight. Used in conjunction with our N12 blades for a well balanced touring or intermediate whitewater paddle.

CF - Carbon Flex. 25% glass, 75% carbon construction. This exceptionally light weight shaft has a carefully oriented lay up of materials giving good strength but a surprising degree of flexibility considering the high carbon content. Beautiful to paddle with in conjunction with our Elite carbon touring blades.

CXT - Carbon Extreme. 52% glass, 37% carbon, 11% kevlar. A very carefully tested blend of materials in an exclusive orientation produces our top of the range whitewater and polo shaft with a low weight but very high strength.

SYNERGY TOUR STG - 100% glass. Lightweight glass bent shaft for touring. Our design in unique in that it takes a neutral bend style but incorporates a gentle caster effect making it the most comfortable touring bent shaft available in the world.

SYNERGY TOUR CF - 35% glass, 65% carbon. Our unique bent shaft for touring in a lightweight construction perfectly blended with our Elite carbon blades.

SYNERGY HDG - 100% glass. Our strong and flexible neutral bent shaft for whitewater use.

SYNERGY CHS - Carbon High Strength 50% glass, 50% carbon. High strength and low weight matched to our Elite carbon whitewater blades.

TWO PIECE SHAFTS

We offer two different jointed shaft options which can be applied to all straight shaft styles.

Our conventional button joint uses a large diameter button which gives a secure joint that is less subject to wear than joints which use a smaller button.

 

LEVERLOCK SYSTEM

The LeverLock system is manufactured in the USA and is a reliable and easy to use joint system. Feather angles can be infinitly varied for left or right handed paddles and length adjustmen up to 10cms. The joint is rock solid and not subject to any tendency to wear over a period of time. It has a very smart and unobtrusive profile.

CANOE HANDLES - Available in light carbon construction or moulded polyurethane.

 

 

 

ERGOTEE - Designed for a snug fit in the palm of the hand while the fingers curl over to register in the recess in the front of the handle giving a firm and superbly confortable feel.

 

 

STANDARD TEE GRIP - A simple symmetrical tee grip.

 

 

MODULAR CONSTRUCTIONS

Most of our paddles are constructed from separate blade and shaft assemblies allowing shafts to be replaced in the unlikely event of breakage.
